In a remarkable display of cooperate philanthropy, Stanbic Bank Uganda , a leading financial institution has announced a generous donation of 10,000,000 ugx  to bolster the forthcoming Uhuru Sickle Cell Run, set  to unfold  on October 5, 2024, in Lira City.

This noble initiative orchestrated by Catharine Phil Sickle Support Initiative, seeks to elevate awareness and secure vital funding for healthcare services concerning sickle.

According to the organise, the Uhuru Sickle Cell Run is aimed at raising funds for the acquisition of an HB electrophoresis machine, a pivotal  tool for the precise and efficient diagnosis of Sickle cell disease at Lira Regional Hospital and Alebtong H/C 1V .

The presence of sucy a diagnostic technology is indispensable in a nation grappling with the significant public health challenge posed by Sickle cell disease.

Alebtong District has recorded alarming  cases of prevalence rate in Uganda with 23.8 percent .

An estimate of 25000 children are born with Sickle conditions.

This  statics highlight  need for improved Health care services and awarness initiatives to combat  this life threatening ailment.
