Ethics and integrity directorate retools Lango journalists in corruption fight

Lira, Ug: A section of journalists drawn from across Lango sub region are undergoing a media engagement with technocrats from the Directorate of ethics and integrity, on government efforts against corruption.
The one day engagement being held at St. Margaritha Palace Hotel in Lira City, has seen participants take. through National Anti Corruption Strategy (2019/2020-2023/2024)
Mr. Nicholas Abola, the commissioner information and communication, Directorate of Ethics and integrity, office of the President said a lot has Ben done in both reactive and proactive - values based approach.
He said they are engaging stakeholders and media is one key player, challenging practitioners to do more and stop lamenting.
Charity Akullo, a reporter with Daily monitor said there is growing mistrust of public officers and officials by community, a reason fighting corruption remains a challenge.
Grace Gentrix Adero of Kioga FM in Amolatar, said that there seems to be little if not no tangible outcome of government efforts in fighting corruption, as many walks scots free after corruption scandals yet chicken thieves are imprisoned quickly.
Commissioner Abola, said many people think government officials and officers are the same, a reason some are acquitted.
