Fresh NRM blood Wilbert Otala Shakes Oyam North as he Declares Move to unseat UPC Incumbent MP

Oyam, Uganda: NRM leaders in Oyam North, along with their supporters, are reportedly rallying behind Wilbert Otala as their sole candidate to challenge the incumbent UPC representative, Dr. Eunice Apio Otuko.

According to information received by this publication, Mr. Wilbert Otala, who serves as the Executive Director of Ot World Graphic in Kampala, is viewed as a strong contender against the UPC party due to his adeptness in addressing local issues and his proactive approach.

NRM voters in Oyam believe that Otala, as a fresh face within the party, is the key to implementing and promoting government initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty in the region.

A series of meetings conducted in Oyam district and Lira City have consistently shown support for Otala's candidacy. One leader, who wished to remain anonymous, indicated that there is a consensus to endorse Otala.

He further mentioned that if all party leaders and supporters agree, they will forgo a primary election.

Betty Adongo, a resident of Abok subcounty in Oyam North, expressed her intention to support MP aspirant Wilbert Otala, also known as OTT.

In a statement to this publication, Otala shared that he has garnered significant support during his month-long consultations with the local community.

He emphasized that Oyam North has suffered from the election of ineffective representatives in the past.

"My goal is to empower the people of Oyam North and advance the objectives of the NRM," he stated. He identified poverty as the most pressing issue in Oyam North, which he aims to tackle through advocacy and lobbying efforts.

Reports from influential circles in Oyam North suggest that Otala is seen as the community's best hope for addressing these challenges.

Efforts to contact Phillips Ogile Jakayo,as NRM mouthpiece for Oyam district, hi for the purpose of verifying this information was unsuccessful. 

However, a party leader indicated that there has been interest expressed in contesting under the NRM ticket. 

He confirmed that the party recently convened a meeting in Oyam district with aspiring NRM candidates.

 Additionally, he mentioned that the NRM party in Oyam is in the process of formulating various strategies aimed at regaining their parliamentary seats.
