Otuke, Uganda : Radio Qfm in Lira City is set to commemorate Uganda 62nd Independence anniversary with the community of  Otuke District.

The event will take place at  Amintenyo Primary School in Otuke District.

In line with its corporate social responsibility initiatives, the station will host a football tournament featuring one of the clans from Lango identified as Pedi Cung Kal.

Mr. Kenneth Okello, the CEO of Radio Qfm Lira, shared with this publication that this marks the second edition of their Uhuru community outreach games. The inaugural event also took place in Alebtong  District last year , specifically in Angetta sub-county,  Ajuri County.

The purpose of the tournament is to strengthen connections with the community, which has shown tremendous support for the radio station. Okello noted that during these outreach events, they also seek to discover and nurture local sports talent, providing exposure to established football teams in the Lango region.

He emphasized that Radio Qfm celebrates every significant date on the calendar with the community. Recently, the team engaged in community outreach activities to foster positive relationships, including a match against a team in Otokong primary school,  Abok sub-county in Oyam District, followed by an interaction with a team from Inomo  in Kwania on Easter this year.

Additionally, Okello encouraged the youth to embrace digital media, highlighting that the station has transitioned to digital platforms with plans to establish a television station for the Lango sub-region and the entire people of northen Uganda.
