Lira City MP Dr. ACENG Allocates over 200M Ugx to Finance Road Works within the City

Lira City’s woman MP, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, is really stepping up her game when it comes to improving services and pushing for government support. She has  allocated over 200 million Uganda shillings to fix major roads that have been in bad shape around Lira City.

At the launch of this project on Wednesday, her aide, Zena Oplot, shared that Aceng has plans to work on an additional 7 kilometers of roads in the area. Oplot emphasized that beyond health, education, and business, MP Aceng is dedicated to enhancing the community’s quality of life by ensuring they have access to better roads.

Back in 2021, during a rally, Aceng heard the community’s frustrations about the poor road conditions and promised to tackle the issue using her own resources along with government support.

On Wednesday, she brought in road  equipment to start fixing the roads, kicking off the work in Ireda, Lira City East division.

Imat Opolot encouraged the community to take care of the roads once they’re repaired.

She further highlighted that MP Aceng is a leader sent to assist the people, noting that what she has accomplished in just a few years surpasses what some long-serving leaders have achieved.

In his reaction, Boda rider Bonny Opio expressed gratitude to MP Aceng for focusing on road development, saying that the poor road conditions have been a struggle for users like him, but now they feel hopeful that this will help their businesses.

MP Aceng has been actively supporting community development.

Recently, she donated 72 bags of cement for renovations at Bishop Taratino College in Ngetta, and she also managed to secure 300 iron sheets for the PAG Worship Centre Church in Lira City through lobbying from  Pime Minsiter Office.

On top that,  she’s been backing various women’s groups in the area.

At a recent silver jubilee celebration at Bishop Taratino College, veteran politician and former MP Daniel Omara Atubu urged the community to back leaders who are committed to community development in the upcoming 2026 elections. He hinted that some leaders are not supportive of community progress without naming names, Atubu statement, clearly adviactes for good leaders like mp Aceng whom is every where on ground supporting the community.
