ARDC Ayo urges community to embrace immunisation as Lira confirms one case of M-pox
According to Ayo,the National Resistance Movement government is working hard to improve on the health of its citizens and commended president Museveni for his abled leadership.

The community in Lira distirct have been urged to embrace the mass immunisation that has been rolled out by government through the health ministry.
This call was on Thursday made by Proscovia Ayo Otyek,the Assistant Resident District Commissioner- Lira while appearing on Voice of The Gospel,a local FM radio station based in Lira city.
Flanked by Dr.Edmon Aceka,the assistant district health officer and and Grace Atim,the district health educator,Ayo appealed to the locals especially mothers to ensure their children are immunised against some killer diseases that still poses a threat to the lives of the infants.
The president's representative meanwhile observed that in the past some wrong elements in the society including unscrupulous politicians and religious leaders have been discouraging the masses from participating in immunisation exercise and warned of punitive action against them
"Political leaders who always decampaign government programs and religious leaders who preach against immunisation should stand warned because we shall arrest and prosecute them" Ayo warned.
She further advised parents mostly mothers who gave birth in the hands of traditional birth attendants to save their children by taking them for immunization to reduce on the outbreak of measles, Tetanus,Polio among others.

Meanwhile Commisioner Ayo said the district has confirmed one patient of monkey pox disease in Agweng Subcounty in Lira district and suspected contacts in Aromo Subcounty and called on the community to be alert and keep good hygiene to reduce on the spread of the outbreak.
She also asked the community to practice hand washing ,sanitize and observe standard operating procedures.
Meanwhile two cases of Nodding syndrome has also been registered in Lira district and Ayo has called upon the office of the prime minister to take it up ( deatails of this nodding syndrome story in our subsequent piece).
