AMOLATAR; Unite in Fight against corruption-IG

Amolatar -UG; Mrs. Joan Ayiokoru, the Supervisor Risks, Monitoring and Control at the Inspectorate of Government, Lira Regional office has called upon residents of Amolatar to actively participate in the fight against corruption.
In her remarks while meeting different anti-corruption community groups, Madam Ayiokoru said fighting corruption is the responsibility of everyone in the country.
She said some of the projects are not directly creating a positive impact due to corruption, which need to be rebuked and reported by the locals to anti-corruption bodies for action.
She also explained to the community the benefit of being involved in the fight against corruption to the country.
Ayiokoru said that the community is vital in fighting corruption and monitoring government projects because they directly monitor the projects within their area.
She further charged the Community Monitoring Group ( CMGs) , a community led anti-corruption body which is responsible for reporting cases of corruption with roles to report and follow up cases of corruption abuses.
Community Monitoring Groups (CMGs) were formed by the community members to ensure the effectiveness and implementation of NUSAF 3 projects .
Tommy Okucu of Alobokwe parish applauded the Inspectorate of Government IG for organizing such engagement meetings on how to monitor government projects.
He added, the knowledge acquired from the training will enable them to monitor different government projects and reduce corruption cases in their area.
Ambrose Adilo of Abarikori parish called for collaboration with the IG to ensure that they end corruption in their areas which is a flop to the development of the country.
Some of the community members who spoke to this publication commended being bold into fighting against corruption.
