Peace corps, GLOW Train Girls Students in Lira

At least 20   students of Bishop Tarantino girls secondary schools in Lira City have received a life Skill training from Germany and American based organisation.

The five days training exposed the students to different skills that will help them earn a living.

Among the skills that they received were business development and management, leadership skills , Sanitary Pads making , mindset change among many.

Girls Lifting our World (GLOW) based in Germany in collaboration with Peace corps an American based NGO were the official sponsors of the training.

This training is part of the preparation as the school prepare  for silver jubilee celebration in 2024.

Partica Ayiorwoth, a former student of Bishop Tarantino girls secondary school turned coordinator of this foreigner NGO explained how she benefited from this project.

She said through the training she was inspired to continue with her education. 

She as well advised the beneficiaries to translate this skill into use for the betterment of their future.

"When a female student is focused, she can achieve anything she wants" she said.

Ayiorwoth who is now a proud secondary teacher said with focus you can get everything. 

She said girls should be bold and a ware of men who want to expoit them sexually using money.

Gorrti Mirram Amuge, a teacher at Dr. Obote College in her closing remarks appealed to girls to avoid engagement in premarital love affairs and focus on their future. 

She also cautioned girls against associating themselves with unproductive males gender who are after luring them into love affairs.

"You first concentrate in your studies upto the university before considering love, I advised ". She said.

She also told students to be a ware of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases.

avoid engagement in sex because you may end up contracting the disease.
