OTUKE! Commissioner Opio Opeo Meets Health Workers to address gap in Healthcare Services
OTUKE, UGANDA! Opio Isaac Opeo, the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Otuke District, has organized an important meeting with health workers of various health facilities in the area.
The goal was to evaluate and improve the health services being offered.
This meeting was crucial for making sure that the people in Otuke can fully benefit from the healthcare services provided by the government through the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
In Otuke District, there are 14 health facilities, which include one Health Center IV (Orum HC IV), three private health facilities, and several Health Center III facilities.
The meeting allowed the leaders to talk about the challenges they face, share successful strategies, and come up with new ideas to enhance health service delivery throughout the district.
During the discussion, ARDC Opeo stressed how important it is for the facility leaders to manage their health centers effectively. He encouraged them to take charge and ensure that health services are both accessible and efficient for everyone in the community. "The NRM Government has set up various health facilities in Otuke, and it’s the responsibility of the In-Charges to make sure these facilities meet the needs of the people," Opeo remarked.
Opeo also pointed out that supervision is vital for maintaining high-quality healthcare services. He referenced President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's emphasis on the need for thorough supervision to ensure excellent service delivery.
"Supervision is essential to make sure our health workers are doing their jobs properly. I encourage you to implement regular supervision at all levels of service," he urged.
In a biblical reference, Opeo mentioned, "Because of lack of knowledge, my people perish." He used this quote to remind the In-Charges to be knowledgeable about the operations and management of health services.
He concluded by thanking President Museveni for his dedication to improving health service delivery.
Chief Administrative officer, office of District Health Officer and political leaders participated in the meeting.
