Why Lira Prominent Businessman Geoffery Etwop was remanded to Lira Central Prison

Lira; The Chief Magistrate Court in Lira City on Friday has remanded to Lira prison Geoffrey Etwop, a prominent businessman.
Etwop who doubles as treasurer of the National Resistance Movement, Lira City is being accused of fraudulently acquiring a public Land with Lira City.
Etwop also an owner of Rhino Oil company in Lango is the second prominent businessman to be arrested by State House anticorruption Unit was charged with fraudulent procurement of a certificate of title, contrary to Section 190 of the Registrations of Titles Act Cap 230 by Court.
Mariam Natasha, the Spokesperson for the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, said that Etwop is accused of fraudulently acquiring part of a public land in Lira city.
It is alleged that between August 2017 and November 2020 while at Lira District, Mr. Etwop, the accused, fraudulently procured the registration on a freehold certificate of title for plots 16-18 located at Soroti Road, Camp Swahili Cell into his name.
Before Samson Abiti Loum, theLira Chief Magistrate for mentioning, Etwop denied the charges.
