Amuru: Residents Get Clean, Reilable Drinking Pump Water from Government

Residents of Amuru subcounty in Amuru District will no more walk a long distance to look for drinking water from unprotected water source, many thanks to NRM government and President H.E Museveni as 750 solar powered pump water system has been planted for them. 

The development will changed the lives and improve productivity as well as supporting the community to fight poverty. 

With the support from Africa Development Bank, this water will serve thousands and thousands of households in Amuru subcounty and Town Council with clean drinking water and water production. 

While handing over the powered water pump system, Mr. Isaac Opio Opeo the newly appointed assistant RDC of Amuru thanked community of Amuru for their love to government. He said the development demonstrates Museveni's effort in ensuring community clean, reliable and safe drinking Water.

He also thanked ministry of water and agricut for delivering good water which will  benefit the  community for many years.

Commissioner Opio who was on behalf of his Senior, RDC Amuru, Odongo Steven Latek urged community of Amuru subcounty to always be supportive to government programs such as PDM, YLP among others.

He further cautioned the community against associating with opposition leaders who are anti government development projects. 

Key notable leaders from Amuru District also witness and celebrate the development together during the handover the water pumps.

In Africa, due to the distance of water source, work of looking for water was left of women and girls, in several circumstances lack of water sources has been linked to increased gender based Violence in some area.

This water pump system system will also as well help to improve agricultural productivity, heigyene and sanitation and finally incomes in the family.

This water pump system is in fulfillment of president Museveni's pledge.
