TEKWARO :Okune's Group Warned Against Blackmailing Speaker Among

Lira, Uganda! On Friday, a faction of clan leaders under Odongo Okune reportedly accused Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among of being behind the court ruling that block their planned coronation of Eng. Okune as the next wonyaci.

These allegations were made during a meeting at the Lango Cultural Centre, which took place a day after a court ruling that prevented Dr. Okune's installation as the next wonyaci of Lango.

Willy Omodo Omodo, the wontok of Lango, along with other clan leaders supporting Eng. Dr. Okune, claimed that the  defeat was influenced by Rt Hon Annet Anita Among.

In response to these accusations, Chris Obore, the Communications Director of Parliament, refuted the claims. He stated that those making such allegations harbor ulterior motives against the Speaker.

" The speaker of Parliament Annita Among has no involvement in the cultural affairs of Lango, she love the people of Lango, she wishes them well and she love to see them develop economically like any other part of the country, that the involvement in the cultural affairs, she is far it. Whoever is bringing in the name of speaker in the cultural affairs of lango has their own anterior motives." He said.

On Thursday this week, the High Court in Lira issued a ruling that reinstated the administration of Wonyaci Yosam Odur. The same ruling deemed the elections of both Eng. Odongo Okune and Ambassador Dickson Ogwang Okul as unlawful.

Justice Phillip Odoki, who presided over the case, also instructed Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development Betty Amongi to promptly degazette Eng. Odongo Okune.
