Gulu District PDM Program Records Success
Gulu district has achieved a 95 percent rate in distributing Parish development funds to various local beneficiaries.
Alfred Ocen, the acting district Commercial Officer, disclosed that some of the best-performing sub-counties are Pukony at 99%, Paibona at 99%, Awach at 98%, Paicho at 97%, Unyama at 97%, Owoo at 96%, Owalo at 95%, Omel at 93%, and Palaro at 90%, with Patiko at 83%.
He also added that parishes with a full 100% disbursement include Gwengdiya in Awach, Ayweri in Paibona, Atop Hill in Paicho, Pagik in Paicho, Atiabar Central Bungatira, and Pabwo in Owoo.
Ocen further noted that some parishes are still working on their fund distribution due to technical issues that are being resolved. Meanwhile, Gulu's deputy RDC, Cosmas Okidi, urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to improve their household income.
According to report, Gulu has received a total of 9.5 billion shillings from the Parish Development Model funds.
PDM is a government initiative in Uganda aiming to help subsistence households move to a cash economy and lift 17.5 million Ugandans from poverty across 3.5 million households.
