Great News ! Joy As Lira Satellite laboratory is near Completion
The laboratory valued at 4 billion Ugandan shillings is part of the Uganda Covid-19 Emergency Response and Preparedness Project.
During a day media tour on Thursday this week at Lira Regional referral Hospital, Doreen Nshabohurira, the communication officer for the project, highlighted that this lab aims to boost the health system in Northern Uganda.
She said that its part of government intervention to improve on healthcare services.
Nshabohurira who also as well briefed journalists about the development under the Uganda Covid-19 Emergency Response and preparedness Prjects said the lab will help in early detection and diagnosis of various diseases, allowing healthcare workers to provide quicker and more effective treatment.
She pointed out that having this lab will cut down on the need to send samples to Kampala and other parts for lab services.
The new facility will feature specialized areas like Microbiology, T.B., Tissue Examination, Immunology, Serology, and Hematology labs, focusing especially on blood-related issues.
She further encouraged locals to take advantage of this new resource and keep an eye on their health for a better quality of life.
Peter Odeke, the Principal Administrator of Lira Referral Hospital, noted that this is a big step forward in making healthcare more accessible for the community.
He also mentioned that the hospital has faced challenges due to limited space.
Stakeholders in the Lango sub-region are pleased with the progress. Alex Owera, a councilor from Agwata sub-county in Dokolo, stated that this new lab will greatly enhance access to healthcare services in Lango.
