Famous Catholic Clergy, Rev Father Alfred Okello Joins Politic to Libreate Dokolo North from Poverty and Poor representation
Dokolo, Uganda: Rev Father Alfred Okello one of the priests in Lira catholic Diocese has confirmed to media his intention to run for Dokolo North Parliamentary seat in 2026.
Father Okello who is known for being supportive to government programs and fighting corruption said he is considering running under the ruling party.
Dokolo North is one of the consistencies in Lango under the dominion of NRM party. For the two consecutive terms, the area has been fully represented by NRM politicians.
While addressing the media over the weekend, the youthful clergy picked a story from the bible where Jesus travelled back to his hometown to set free those who were badly and bring positive changes in their lives. "As a Priest, am returning home to help and serve my home people, they are now suffering, no clean water, bad roads network and poor social services, just like Jesus returned to set his hometown to free and stand with his home people, I am on a mission to raise the standard of lives of my people in Dokolo."
The MP hopeful, Okello is his attempt to libreate a community has repaired several boreseholds in the area and supported needy community.
His intention has attracted supports from the community and top leadership of NRM in Dokolo .
Shara Adongo, a resident of Agwata township welcomed him in the race. "We have suffered enough, we want him to come and stand. "

Who is Rev Father Alfred Okello
He holds bachelors in philosophy, theology, Diploma is social sciences, PGD in Bioethics, and masters in Clinical psychology.
Rev Father Okello was ordained in 2018 in Lira Diocese and asigned as Diocesan priest secretary from 2019 upto 2023, in 2022, he also served as Parish Administrator 2022
