Abim: MP Jennet Okori Moe Donates Seven Chippers to Women Groups

Abim, Uganda :The woman Member of Parliament Abim district Hon Jennet Okori Moe has has donated seven chippers machines to the seven women’s groups that grows cassava in the district.
During the belated women’s day celebration held on 23rd March 2024 at Aninata primary school playground over the weekend she said the machines will help add value addition to the cassava.
''Have brought seven cassava chippers for value addition and it will help our mothers dry their cassava faster, it is also income generating to the group members since they will be hiring to other farmers who would want to use’’.
She also added that through the district production office they will identify and give seven women’s group that grow cassava and train them on how to use it.
Hon Akech as well said the machine will help eradicate poverty as income generating opportunity to the group members.
During the same function Hon Akech promise to roof one class room block of Aninata Primary School urging already four of the seven school in Abim district has already received the iron sheet and more will still be coming to improve the education pupils.
She also appealed to women to form groups if they would want to benefit from many programs both for government and NGOs.She has well asked the youth to change their lifestyle because the rate at which HIV/AIDS cases is increasing in Karamoja sub region is worrying.
On the issues of wildlife destruction in some sub counties in the district she promised to provide maize seed to the affected families and lias with UWA to see that everyone is fully compensated.Honorable Akech Jennet who was the guest of the function cautioned men against domestic violence urging couples to separate to avoid death that is always caused with family misunderstanding.
Meanwhile the RDC Abim James asked women to utilize government programs like UWEP among others in order to enhance their income.
However, he also used the opportunity to caution those who have received PDM notifying them that soon they will follow up to see how PDM has be utilized in the district.
'' I am also calling upon those the elephant has destroyed their crops not to give up on farming but to continues so as to see how best UWA compensated every affected farm, added RDC James Shilaku’’.This year celebration themes stands at Accelerating Gender Equality through women Economic Empowerment.
