Engage in Mentorship Programs -NRM SG Todwong Tips Makerere Students
Kampala, Uganda: NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong has encouraged university students to make the most of their time and opportunities to receive mentorship programs as they prepare for public service.
While presiding over the NRM Makerere chapter handover ceremony at Makerere University, SG Todwong pointed out that students often face challenges in achieving their aspirations due to the liberties they experience during their university years.
“Don’t let the freedoms that come with your university life distract you. These liberties can lead to unfinished studies,” Todwong cautioned, emphasizing the importance of concentrating on academics and enhancing personal growth through mentorship initiatives like ideological retreats.
“I urge you to consistently seek counsel and mentorship from experienced leaders to develop into responsible future leaders,” he advised the NRM youth leaders.
Todwong encouraged students to take inspiration from President Yoweri Museveni’s approach to national affairs.
He advised the youth to engage in politics and leadership with integrity and patience to avoid pitfalls, just as President Museveni does.
The head of the secretariat praised the Charter leadership for their organization and efforts in rallying fellow students to support the NRM party’s development.
The secretariat will continue to back your initiatives aimed at recruiting more students into the ruling party.
Outgoing NRM Chapter Chairman Robert Ankunda expressed his appreciation to the secretariat for their unwavering support of students aligned with the ruling party.
“You have always stood by us, and I trust that the assistance and support you’ve provided will also extend to the new team,” Ankunda stated.
The event was also graced by the Director of External Affairs Counsel Awich Pollar, Kampala Central Mayor Salim Uhuru, and NRM patron at Makerere University Dr. Eria Hisali, among other dignitaries.
