Lira: City Commerical Officer Detained for Extorting PDM Beneficiaries

Lira, Uganda! The Commercial Officer- Lira city, Richard Okello Odyek and Angwech Prisca (SWICO Insurance) also Chairperson of Akwia Woro PDM are currently in police custody in Ojwina Police Station over alleged extortion of Money.

The duo are alleged to have extorted money from beneficiaries of the government program, Parish Development Model (PDM) within Lira City.

Resident City Commissioner - Lira, Lawrence Emmy Egole has confirmed the arrest to @943qfmlira during an exclusive phone interview on Thursday evening, (25/7/2024), noting that locals have been decrying the act of the duo who have been extorting money from them inorder to access the PDM cash.

Egole said government will not continue with arrest and ensure the culprits are taken to court.

Several members of the public from Lango are commending security for being tough on corrupt officials. 

Recently while meeting youth leaders in Kamapla, State House Investment Protections Unit, Col Edith Nakalema urged youth to join fight against corruption.
