PART1; A powerful   Success Story   of DR. Jane Ruth Aceng in Lira City

In this edition, we bring to you part1 of the achievements of  Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng in Lira City as a woman MP.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng is a first time MP, she joined politic in 2021 due to public demands following her outstanding contribution in the fight against COVID-19 in Uganda and Worldwide.

Aceng was highly praised by both international community and government of Uganda for saving the lives of Uganda.

The list of Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng’s Contribution is endless.

On the 17th May 2024, she will make three years in Parliament.

MP Aceng is not like some leaders who has northing to share as his or her contributions.

Key Success

Donated Covid-19 relief items (500 bags of beans and 500 bags of maize flour) to the most vulnerable groups of people in Lira City like; street children, street vendors, wheel barrow pushers, blockers etc. during the lock down. This is valued at 14.5M shillings.

 

Road safty

In abide to show care to the boda operators in Lira City, the virbant city leader supported  them through their umbrella body LUMBA with 2,000 pieces of Executive reflector jackets to help them reduce road accidents. This is valued at 20M shillings.

She also as well gave mothers of Victory Outreach Ministries 100 mattresses for hiring to the public as their source of Income Generating Activity. The support was at the cost of 16M.

 

Her struggle to help unemployed youth, Minister Aceng Financed Boda Boda motorcycle loan scheme for the people of Lira City in order for them to get motorcycles on loan at an affordable rate. The scheme is being run and managed by LUMBA. As of today, 135 motorcycles at a cost of 704.7M shillings have been given out and many young people find its easy to deal and get a bike. 

 

Before she was elected as woman mp for Lira City,  Lira Main Market was in darkness and several unsuccessful attempts were clear electricity bill of 10Million were made ,  however, as a good leader she came in and paid it.

In her bide to promote Business and reduce poverty, the great city leader also met with over 300 businessmen and businesswomen drawn from all business sector in Lira City and discussed with them issues pertaining the growth and development of Lira City and explored ways to mitigate challenges that the business face.

 

Dr. Aceng as a mother upon noticing challenges at Ngetta Babies Home in her area in  Lira City,  Partnered and collaborated with Airtel Uganda and delivered 300 bags of cement, internet package, soap, sugar, rice, and other assorted items to them This was done as part of Social Corporate activities “12 Days of Christmas”. This is valued at 10.6M shillings.

 

420 registered community existing groups in Adekokwok, Ojwina, Ngetta, Iwal and Railways benefited in her wealth creation scheme, 210M shillings were given to them as a grant.  On top of that , she mobilised funds worth 600M Ugx from NUSAF for the struggling market vendors in Lira City.

 

As a devoted Christian, MP Aceng regardless of religious affiliation, supported 103 women catholic leaders and 400 Muslim women with start up capital for their business.

 

Not only women groups have benefited from her, She also supported a local group of thump piano dancers commonly known as “Ongura Youth Group” with uniforms and other materials. This group helped in sensitizing people during COVID-19 pandemic through their songs and plays. They are very good in promoting health related programs such as immunization, vaccination, good healthy behaviours and good governance etc. through their songs and they always entertain people at social gatherings. This is valued at 1M shillings

 

In the area of agriculture, Urban household farmers in Lira City received hybrid maize seeds to boost subsistence farming in Lira City. (750 households in 2021 and 600 Households in 2022). This is valued at 22.9M shillings.

 

 Launched and paid rent for Lira Garments Designers’ Cooperative Society Limited for six months. This was to save them from interruptions and ensure normal progress in their work including training of youths. This costed 600,000UGX.

In 2022, Honourable, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng also spent 90M Shillings in procuring 1000 pieces of gomasi to women during women’s celebration.
