UNEB: ARCC Bonny Otucu Cautions Headteachers against Blocking Candidates from sitting Exams over Unpaid balance
Lango, Uganda: The Assistant Resident City Commissioner of Lira, Bonniface Otucu, has cautioned school leaders in the Lango sub-region aganist blocking students with outstanding fees to take part in the ongoing national exams.
While encouraging candidates as they kick off their papers on Monday, he emphasized that it would be unfair for a school to prevent a student from sitting for exams just because of unpaid fees.
He suggested that students should be allowed to take their exams and sort out their fee balances afterward.
Otucu also urged parents who can afford to pay their children's fees to do so for the smooth operation.
Right now, students are in the middle of their Uganda Certificate of Education exams for Ordinary level.
Additionally, he reminded candidates to avoid any exam misconduct.
Otucu also assured his commitment to making sure students can take their exams in a calm and secure environment.
Meanwhile, the Police Spokesman for the North Kyoga region echoed these sentiments, confirming that the exams have started off without any issues.
